The new Nature Park in Lataguri, located in the Jalpaiguri district, is set to become a fresh attraction for tourists visiting the Dooars region. Developed by the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA), the park spans 2.71 acres and was completed in March last year. After lying unused for over a year, the SJDA is preparing to hand the park over to the West Bengal Tourism Department, which will manage and operate it like other state-run properties.

The Nature Park offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature, complete with 10 cottages designed to accommodate tourists. These cottages are part of a larger facility that includes a lobby, kitchen, and restaurant, providing guests with a comfortable and well-serviced stay. Additionally, accommodations for 10 employees have been set up to ensure smooth operations at the park.

One of the standout features of the park is its beautifully landscaped artificial lake, which is expected to become a major draw for visitors. As per The Telegraph reports, there are plans to introduce boating on the lake, adding a layer of recreational activity for tourists. The park’s natural setting, coupled with these amenities, aims to offer a serene escape, especially for those visiting the nearby Gorumara National Park, a key attraction in the region.

Lataguri is already a popular destination for nature lovers, and this park will be a valuable addition to the accommodations available in the area. Tourism officials anticipate that the Nature Park could be opened to the public as early as the upcoming winter season, further boosting tourism in Lataguri.

The local tourism industry has welcomed the opening of the park, seeing it as a positive move that will provide more accommodation options and enhance the overall tourist experience in Lataguri. With its well-planned infrastructure and focus on offering a nature-centric retreat, the park is poised to become a favourite among tourists looking for a peaceful getaway.

The SJDA completed the park’s infrastructure in March of the previous year, but it has remained closed for about a year and a half, according to The Telegraph. The handover to the state tourism department marks the next step in making the park accessible to tourists. Representatives from the tourism industry have also welcomed this development, viewing it as a positive step towards providing additional accommodation options for tourists.

The Nature Park promises to be a valuable addition to the region.
