“Small World Is A Sham,” Redditor Slams Bengaluru Company After “Absolute Waste” Cooking Workshop; Netizens Chime In

Small World

There is no dearth of classes, workshops and fun events in Bengaluru for the creative soul. But are they good? Now, that’s another question! Recently, a Redditor slammed Small World— a Bengaluru-based company known for organising events and workshops in the city— for an “absolute waste” workshop. Netizens took to the comments section to share their awful experiences.

Man Rants About Small World In Bengaluru After Awful Cooking Event

Redditor @spiritedsouls28 took to the sub-Reddit r/bangalore to share his terrible experience at an event hosted by the company located in Koramangala, Bengaluru. The man recollected booking a couple’s cook-off event with his wife on BookMyShow(BMS). He expected a fun and healthy competition as part of the event.

However, he stated that the chef arrived 30 minutes late without being apologetic for the delay. To make matters worse, the reason for her tardiness was “oversleeping”. Instead of “elaborate cooking”, the participants were taught to bake basic butter cookies using just three ingredients— butter, sugar and flour.

Moreover, the participants weren’t given any baking tips or explanations. The ingredients were mixed in equal proportions, the cookies were baked and the event wrapped up in just 15 minutes. Having paid ₹1400 for the event, the Redditor called it an absolute waste.

Redditors Share Their Experiences

What’s surprising is that many Redditors echoed similar experiences with Small World. Not such a small world after all! A Redditor recollected also paying ₹1400 for a similar cooking event only to have 10 people cram in a tiny messy kitchen. Another person attended a painting workshop and participants weren’t given sufficient paints by the organisers. A Redditor even slammed the company’s speed dating event for having a very skewed gender ratio of 20 men to hardly 6 to 8 women.

Amid hordes of negative comments, a positive one solely but surely stood out. The Reddit user revealed attending two coffee cupping workshops and finding them “good”.

A year ago, I remember booking a pottery workshop for ₹1500 at Small World. What was promised on BMS was a 2.5-hour immersive pottery experience. On having reached the location, a dingy terrace, I was dismayed to see just two potter wheels for around 20 participants. Each participant could spend just 10 minutes at the wheel instead of the immersive 2-5-hour promised experience. What followed were weeks of pestering for a refund, which the organisers grudgingly obliged.

With Redditors slamming the Bengaluru company for hosting “scams” in the name of “workshops” and “events”, one can conclude, that it is a small world after all!
