A snake hanging from a berth that was spotted inside the Jabalpur-Mumbai Garib Rath Express has gone viral. The incident occurred on a Sunday morning, near Kasara station in Maharashtra. The video shows a long snake dangling from the iron grip of a side upper berth. Fortunately, no passenger was sitting in the berth, which was filled with luggage. However, the sight of the snake caused alarm among the travellers.

As the video circulated, passengers can be heard discussing what to do next. Some urged others to leave the snake alone. One male passenger even made a joke about the snake entering a “Garib Rath” train, despite its luxurious appearance.The incident reportedly happened about 104 km from Mumbai. Railway authorities, including the Central Railways, are investigating the situation.

The snake, after hanging from the side berth, slithered into the AC panel, causing more concern. The coach, identified as number 617, was part of the Garib Rath Express train. As the snake moved, it tried to enter the air conditioning vent. This action sparked panic among the passengers, and many tried to figure out how to deal with the snake.

In an attempt to get the snake out, some passengers threw blankets towards it. However, their efforts were unsuccessful. The coach was eventually detached from the train to avoid further problems.

Social media users flooded the comments with their reactions. One user remarked that such incidents only happen in India, expressing surprise at the strangeness of the event. Another person speculated that the snake might have crawled into someone’s bag at a station. Others, shocked by the footage, vowed to check upper berths thoroughly before sleeping in overnight trains.

Though snakes are not a common sight on Indian trains, the event highlighted the unpredictable nature of travel. Despite the initial fear, there were no reports of injuries, and passengers were safely moved to another coach.
