Kedarnath Temple, located in Uttarakhand, India, is a Hindu temple and one of the 12 jyotirlingas situated near the Mandakini river in the Garhwal Himalayan range. This jyotirlinga, also known as the ‘temple of the God of the field’, is a renowned and well-known temple. The temple closes in winter because of the extreme weather conditions. However, over 18,000 pilgrims attended the Vedic rituals at Kedarnath, to witness the closure ceremony for winter. Furthermore, a video went viral on X, where the visual of the beautiful Kedarnath surrounded by snowfall was shown before its closure.
Video Of Kedarnath Temple Covered In Snow Takes Over Internet
A video went viral on social media platform X which featured the Kedarnath Temple draped in white after the heavy snowfall at 5:30 AM. The video garnered more than 332k views and more than 26k likes. It was posted on November 3, showcasing the last darshan at Kedarnath Temple before it closed. Take a look at the video.
The Kedarnath Temple’s vigraha (deity) is carried to Ukhimath for six months during winters, where it is worshipped. Access to the temple is a 17-kilometre uphill trek from Gaurikund, and it is considered a homogeneous form of Lord Shiva.
To celebrate the self-manifested Shivalinga during the upcoming winter, the Samadhi Puja was performed by the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) and a committed group of priests, Vedpathis, and Acharyas. The ceremony, which started at five in the morning, rooted in ancient Vedic rituals and sacred customs, featured the stirring chanting of “Om Namah Shivay.” The ceremony was attended by an Indian Army band, which enhanced the poignant departure.
