South Bombay, popularly known as SoBo, is an area that hosts several Gothic architectures. It is a place where you will find the elites of the society. Amongst it is one of the most visited gyms, Melt! It was once a vibrant space with affluent people for 21 years. However, it is shutting down and here’s why!

SoBo’s Melt Gym Is Shutting Down!

Melt, one of SoBo’s most upscale gyms is about to close its doors after 21 years of serving as an energetic place for the affluent to work out. Melt is located in the Cambata Building, next to Churchgate Station. The expansive area was like a second home for the housekeeping workers, who have been employed by the upscale fitness club since its start.

The management of Melt has integrated its devoted housekeeping employees into its sister company, QI Spine Clinic, despite suffering significant losses. Nitij Arenja, the director of the Olympic-standard gym, revealed in the middle of the day that he had received numerous franchise-related approaches. From businessmen to government officials, everyone was seen at the fitness centre.

Reason For Shut Down

According to a Mid-Day report, they were collaborating with a tenant of Cambata Trust to operate Melt. The property is currently being returned to the landlord, Cambata Trust, amicably by the tenant. There was no court battle. Everything was resolved peacefully. This discovery was first brought to their attention a few days ago. As a result, they will close the company on May 31. This message has been delivered to all members.

Before the lockdown, the fitness centre had a complete makeover, and pricey equipment from Italy was imported to turn it into an Olympic-calibre gym for gym rats. However, despite significant investment, the management was unable to see a positive return because the lockdown was instituted so soon after the redesign in 2020.

Speaking about the future, they have received calls for franchise enquiries. Though they haven’t finalised anything yet, they are certainly considering it.

Well, no matter how much SoBo loved this gym, it is time to bid adieu to them!
