On this brilliant episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-In-Chief, Kamiya Jani, spoke to the multi-talented Sohum Shah. Known for amazing films like Tumbbad, the actor and producer is also a self-proclaimed foodie. Needless to say, we were very excited about speaking to him. There is nothing better than when two foodies get together to yap about all things food, and that is exactly what happened in this episode! Excited? Click on the link below to watch the full episode!
Sohum Shah Is A Big Foodie, And These Are The Languages He’s Fluent In
Right off the bat, Sohum Shah proudly confessed to us that he was a foodie. He joked about how during interviews, people keep asking questions like, ‘How did you make Tumbbad?’ and other queries related to his work. However, he said that nobody asks him about his food preferences.
Kamiya then asked him about the place where he was from. You see, he’s from quite a geographically unique place called Sri Ganganagar. As per Sohum, even though it is officially a part of Rajasthan, it is also quite close to Punjab and Pakistan. “Humare yahaan sab cheezein 20-20 km door hain.”
Owing to its unique geographical location, he is now fluent in Punjabi. He speaks fluent Marwari, as he is from Rajasthan. However, he can also speak Punjabi quite well.

Sri Ganganagar Is More Punjab-Oriented Than Rajasthan
He also mentioned that the food scene in Sri Ganganagar was quite unique. You might think that since it’s a part of Rajasthan, you’ll get great Rajasthani staples there. However, much to our surprise, he said that items like Daal Baati Churma are nowhere to be found in Sri Ganganagar.
Surprisingly, Sri Ganganagar’s culinary scene is rife with Punjabi dishes, owing to its proximity to the state!
He even narrated a fun incident about how Nawazuddin Siddiqui taught him acting. Wanna know what it is? Watch the full interview linked above!
