The days of scorching heat for some Indian states may soon come to an end as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in 10 states. So, if you’re looking for some respite from the scorching summer heat, these rains could just be what you need.
A Sigh Of Relief As IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall For 10 Indian States
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for states such as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangatec West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh
Recently, the rising heat in Indian states has been a cause of concern as many have suffered heat strokes and various other ailments. In some instances, extreme heat stroke has also led to the death of individuals. The news of these heavy rainfalls comes as a sigh of relief to the people of India, as it may help bring the soaring heat temperatures down.

The IMD also said that heavy to very heavy rainfall may fall in isolated areas of Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. Thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50mph and lightning, are also said to befall over areas of Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
In the recent months of summer, temperatures had managed to reach 46 degrees Celsius (114.8 degrees Fahrenheit) in northern eastern India, as reported by AFP. While India is no stranger to the rising heat and its hot flashes during the summer months of May and June, there is no doubt that climate change has helped make it 10 times worse, this year.
Along With Relief, A Sense Of Gloom Also To Be Expected With Rainfalls
As per the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, India has been expected to be one of the worst affected by the changes caused due to climate change. While these rainfall predictions come as a ray of hope for almost everyone, it is also beneficial to keep in mind that heavy rainfalls too have their own set of downfalls.

The rainfall may help bring the rising temperatures down but can also lead to issues of flooding, electricity and water shortage, and other issues that often are experienced when heavy monsoons hit the country.
While a lot of states are yet to experience the full effects of the monsoon season, a few southern places have already managed to find themselves amid these rainstorms.
