In a major infrastructure boost for Delhi-NCR, the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line will extend from Rithala to Nathupur in Sonipat by 2028. This 26.5-kilometre corridor is a part of the Delhi Metro’s Phase 4 expansion. It will include 21 new stations and aims to significantly ease daily travel for an estimated 50,000 commuters. The extension is expected to benefit both Haryana and Delhi by strengthening cross-border connectivity and encouraging regional growth.
Yellow Line Extension To Boost Travel Between Delhi And Haryana
The proposed extension will run through key areas such as Rohini, Bawana, Narela, Kundli, and finally Nathupur in Sonipat. The central government has already approved the project. This will integrate urban and semi-urban zones with the capital’s rapid transit network.
The Haryana government will fund 80% of the cost for the section within its territory, while the central government will cover the remaining 20%, as reported by The Times of India. This partnership supports shared urban development goals and ensures seamless transport across state borders.
Economic Development And Real Estate Growth In Sonipat
The Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line extension is not just about better travel. According to ET Now, experts predict a surge in real estate activity in areas like Kundli and Nathupur, driven by improved accessibility. With the new metro line connecting directly to central parts of Delhi, commercial and residential investments are likely to increase.
