Gujarat is preparing to embrace a new era of travel with the introduction of caravan tourism. The state has announced plans to develop 29 caravan parks across diverse landscapes, including beaches, forests, hill stations, and heritage sites. This initiative aims to offer travellers a more immersive and flexible way to explore Gujarat’s natural and cultural treasures while boosting the state’s tourism infrastructure.

Caravan Parks To Offer Scenic Stopovers Across Gujarat

Caravan tourism is growing in popularity across India, and Gujarat has decided to take the lead by investing in 29 caravan parks. According to Gujarat Tourism, the caravan parks will be strategically located to give road-trippers access to some of the state’s most iconic and unexplored destinations.

Other notable locations include Polo Forest, Kevdi, Nalsarovar, Jambughoda, and Wilson Hill, providing a rich mix of experiences across coastlines, forests, and cultural hubs.

Infrastructure In Place For Future Road-Trippers

According to Gujarat Tourism’s official channels, the tender process for the development of these caravan parks is now live. The selected sites will feature essential facilities such as parking bays, electricity, water connections, sanitation units, and waste management systems. These parks will cater to tourists travelling in caravans or camper vans, offering safe and accessible overnight halts.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to promote experiential travel and encourage tourism beyond traditional hubs. Travellers will soon have the option to chart their own routes across Gujarat’s scenic backdrops while enjoying the comforts of a mobile stay.

A Move Towards Sustainable And Experiential Tourism

The upcoming caravan parks also align with the global trend of slow and sustainable tourism. By allowing travellers to stay closer to nature and engage with local culture, Gujarat aims to create a more meaningful tourism experience. Once operational, these caravan parks could significantly contribute to local economies, offering opportunities for community involvement and eco-tourism.
