Travelling to a new country is an enriching experience. One that allows travellers to soak in the wonders of the different cultures, food, traditions, and history. Europe is one of the highest sought-after destinations for the diversity in topography and geography of the countries here. However, even though exploring the countries here is exhilarating, obtaining a Schengen Visa and the whole process can really be cumbersome and exhausting. But this may soon change, as UAE residents might not need physical visa stickers on their passports while travelling to Europe. Here’s all you need to know about the possible development!

As mentioned above, if you are planning to travel to the European Union, then you are in for good news. The application process for the Schengen Visa might soon become a lot easier, as the entire process may get digitalised. As it happens, the new procedure may not even require UAE residents to get physical visa stickers on their passport! Yes, according to a statement issued by Matjaž Nemec, a European member of Parliament, this visa sticker may be replaced with visas issued digitally. A report by Gulf News informs that VFS Global admitted to being aware of the European Union’s plan to digitalise the process of visa application.

The Visa Process May Get Digitalised

As it happens, the entire processing of the applications may happen on a single online platform if the process. Applicants will also be told which country will receive their applications in case they’re planning a multi-country trip. Not to mention, the new system will work harmoniously with the European Union’s border management systems and databases.

This system will make applying for a visa a lot less cumbersome for UAE residents while also reducing the security risks posed by physical stickers. As such, the new system will also ensure the applicant’s data is more secure. And it will also remove barriers arising from the difference in language, disability status, lack of digital skills, or poor internet connectivity.
