Soon, Uttarakhand Will Be Directly Connected To These 7 Domestic Airports; A Bid To Boost Tourism

As a state, Uttarakhand is one of the biggest tourist hotspots in the country. However, travelling to and from the state can be quite inconvenient. In order to make travel easier to and from this state, the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority or UCADA has taken certain measures. The Uttarakhand officials are planning on providing direct air connectivity to seven major airports in the country. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this particular development in Uttarakhand’s aviation scene.

Uttarakhand To Be Directly Connected To These 7 Airports

According to an article which was recently published by Mathrubhumi, the airports as well as the routes have been selected based on anticipated passenger demand. The seven airports to which Uttarakhand will be directly connected are in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Patna.

As of now, the proposed routes include flights between Delhi and Pithoragarh. From the Jolly Grant Airport, cities like Bhopal, Chennai and Patna will be connected. From the airport in Patnanagar, flights to and from Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai are proposed.

As per officials, the Mumbai route is expected to be especially beneficial and more so to the community involved with the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited or SIIDCUL. What is more, trekkers in the Kumaon region will find the connection to Bengaluru especially useful.

An Initiative Under The UAC Scheme; Subsidies Available

This superb initiative will be taken under the Uttarakhand Air Connectivity Scheme or UACS. The officials of the UCADA have also issued an Expression of Interest or EOI to airlines.

This is because the scheme also consists of Viability Gap Funding or VGP. This means that the airlines that are willing to serve these routes will be able to avail of subsidies for these routes.
