It was only recently revealed that the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority is now planning to encourage delivery companies to make a switch to electric bikes. So, what this means is that soon your deliveries might be brought to you on such eco-friendly bikes. Yes, the plan involves enhancing the infrastructure of the commercial transport business, reviewing the license and registration process, and of course developing experimental charging stations for such bikes.

Dubai RTA Plans To Move Towards Electric Bikes For Delivery Riders

It was recently revealed that under the green initiative, Dubai RTA is motivating delivery companies towards migration to eco-friendly electric bikes. Yes, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions in the emirate, the plan is to establish charging stations across the city for charging electric bike batteries as well. As it happens, the Dubai RTA also mentioned that there are plans to amend licensing and registration requirements. The aim is to encourage delivery companies to adopt this greener mode of transport, as mentioned above.

A Suitable Model Is Being Developed By Them For Such Bikes

At this point, it is worth revealing that the authorities have already begun developing a suitable model of electric bike design with delivery drivers in mind. According to a report by the National News, it was also mentioned that Muhannad Al Muhairi, RTA’s director of the Commercial Transport Activities Department at the Licensing Agency said that this initiative is in line with the year of sustainability and Dubai Vision 2030 strategy as well.

Careem To Introduce Electric Bikes For Its Drivers By End Of The Month?

So, the aim of the strategy is to reduce carbon emissions by a whopping 30%. As it happens, this initiative has come after Careem, which is a popular ride-hailing app and food delivery service in the UAE announced that it would soon introduce electric delivery bikes on the roads of Dubai. And this plan is expected to take shape by the end of this month. As it is happening in partnership with the RTA, it is a move towards a more carbon-neutral transport option.

This means that soon deliveries can be made on such electric bikes. Therefore, moving towards a greener future and an alternative that has less carbon emissions.
