The hotel that caught fire on Thursday is a nine-storey property. Following the accident, an inspection was conducted on Friday. According to a report by AP News, fire officials, forensic experts, and police staff conducted the probe. As per the recent updates, electrical issues might be a probable reason for triggering the fire at the hotel on Thursday.

A total of 23 guests were staying at the property last night when the fire was reported. The fire first broke out in a vacant room on the eighth floor of the nine-story establishment. It was room number 810. Though fire officials managed to control the blaze and extinguish the flames last night, dark and toxic fumes surrounded rooms on the higher floors of the property even before the fire department doused the fire.

Officials shared that there were no sprinklers in that empty room on the eighth floor. Having no sprinklers during emergencies might have worsened the situation that night. Most of the victims of this accident were on the eighth and ninth floors of the hotel.

The Chief of Gyeonggi Provincial Fire Services Cho Seon-ho shared that five guests lost their lives after inhaling toxic smoke engulfing the hotel. The team of firefighters placed a huge inflatable cushion to rescue trapped people inside the rooms of the property. Two guests attempted to jump on that cushion from the eighth floor. Unfortunately, they could not aim their landing properly and died.
