January is here and the calendar is packed with quite a few events. From cultural to sports events, there are many events scheduled for the month. So, here’s a look at some of the sports events for the month that you will want to bookmark and attend. Take a look!
Sports Events In January
1. Dubai Racing Carnival
This is a racing carnival that will be returning to Meydan Racecourse. During the event, you will get to see top international trainers and jockeys! So, as these talented folks gallop towards the finish line, they stand a chance to win the massive USD30.5 million Dubai World Cup.

2. Neon Run Powered By Sketchers
This is the first-ever DSF Neon Run and will be taking place at the Dubai Design District (d3). And it’s perfect for both seasoned runners and even newcomers! During this run, you can opt for the 2.5 km or 5 km course or even for the 10 km. Finally, as you finish your run, you can fuel up at e& MOTB next door, and the entry’s free!

3. Dubai Marathon
This is one of the region’s biggest annual athletic meets and it will start and finish on Umm Suqeim Road. This means participants will get to take in splendid views of Madinat Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab as they cross the Jumeirah Beach Road. You can either sign-up for their 42km course or for the shorter 10 km route, they’ve got you covered.

4. Hero Dubai Desert Classic
This championship is a part of the Rolex Series and one can see the like od major names, like Brian Harman, Tommy Fleetwood, and Tyrell Hatton. Of course, you will also get to relish delicious bites from one of the many food trucks.

When: January 16-19
Timings: 9 am onwards
5. Silver Cup
As a part of Dubai’s polo calendar, you will see six of the world’s best teams go head-to-head in this tournament. This is going to be through a 20-goal handicap from January 16 to February 1. So as you cheer for your favourite team, get ready to do so in polo-picnic fashion with fun and entertainment.

6. Dubai Basketball VS Cedevita Olimpija
With an epic showdown, get ready to watch Dubai Basketball take on Cedevita Olimpija. For those who are not aware, this club has made headlines by joining the ABA League for the 2024/25 season. While Cedevita Olimpija was formed in 2019 and is Based in Ljubljana, the team carries a history of success.

7. Road to Dubai – Champions Series: Nurmagomedov vs Hughes
This is the inaugural Champions Series World Title, which takes place on January 25. This will be a showdown between Bellator Lightweight World Champion Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes. So, it’s truly going to be a nail-biting competition!

8. Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge Build Up Rides
This is a returning event that will be happening at the Al Qudra Cycle Track. Organisers will get to test and train their stamina in a fun environment. So, those who are above the age of 19 can register for the Dubai Big 5. While if you have kids who are between the ages of 16-18 years old they can register for the Dubai Big 5 Junior.

9. AHPC League
This is a five-day tournament, which will welcome aspiring and seasoned players across the region. And while you’re at it, make sure you’re dressed properly for the event as you watch the participants galloping on the field.
