Roller skating is truly an exhilarating activity that allows you to glide across the surface, all the while feeling the wind in your hair. And ice skating is quite similar to this activity, but as evident from the name, it’s done on an ice rink. The reason why we are talking about ice skating is that Dubai will soon get the Middle East’s first professional ice arena. In fact, this could be as soon as Quarter 3 of 2025!

Emirates Sports Arena To Open Soon In Dubai

Emirates Sports Arena is all set to be the first professional and multi-functional ice arena in the Middle East. In fact, this arena is coming up in Dubai and is all set to be built to the NHL standards. As announced by the Emirates Sports Group, the opening of the entirely new facility is scheduled for September 2025. With the opening of the arena, there is bound to be a growth in the already increasing ecosystem of Dubai.

Located right next to the Emirates Sports Hotel & Apartments, this arena will be home to the newest high-quality sports facility in the region. A powerful step in the development of winter sports in the Middle East, this includes other popular disciplines, such as ice hockey and figure skating. In fact, a winter sports academy for GCC countries will also be introduced. Not to mention, there are plans to build and develop several ice arena’s and winter sports academies around the Middle East.

The project, which has been under development for three years, it’s worth mentioning because this will be the only professional and multifunctional ice arena in the Middle East, once it opens. With the aim of promoting winter sports, not just in the UAE but even across the region, it will help in the development of figure skaters and even hockey players.

It Will Be Spread Across 10,000 m²

As it happens, the arena will also be open to the general public, even though it has been designed for professionals. Emirates Ice Hockey League matches will be held here, and it will also be able to host international figure skating tournaments! Services like skate rental and on-site dining will also be available to the visitors, offering a full-service experience. Coming to the temperature, it will be kept at 16 to 18°C, which is according to the international hockey standards. Not to mention, the arena will be spread across 10,000 m² with a seating capacity for 600 people.

So once the arena opens, it truly opens the doors to a whole new world of winter sports!
