Built In The 1920s, This Luxury Villa In Srinagar Is Seeped In History!
Karan Mahal belonged to Karan Singh who was the son of the last ruling Maharaja of Kashmir before the Monarchy was abolished and the governor of Kashmir. He resided in this luxurious European-style villa with his loving family. Hence, a lot of important oath ceremonies of the government were held in the living room.
Years later it became a home for Karan’s son, Vikramaditya Singh and his wife, Chitrangada Raje. However, they couldn’t live in it due to political unrest and other reasons and moved out soon enough. With time, they decided to restore this beautiful villa for around 10 years and finally in 2021, they opened its doors to the public for stay options as the Karan Mahal.
