As per a report by Asian News Network, a powerful windstorm swept through various parts of Kashmir on Monday. The storm not only damaged several parked vehicles but also affected the electric infrastructure across multiple neighbourhoods. Many rooftops were blown off due to the strong, gusty winds, especially in the Burzulla locality, which was one of the worst-hit areas. A user on X, @Nawakadal3, also posted the latest visuals of the aftermath of heavy rains and a windstorm on their account.
The windstorm, accompanied by heavy afternoon rains and hailstorms, uprooted several trees and electric poles. This led to power outages in many areas of Srinagar. While the rainfall did bring some temporary relief from the heatwave, the storm’s impact ended up causing a lot of damage.

The Storm Damaged Over 30 Parked Cars
As per multiple reports, residents shared that the intense gusts snapped power lines and sent debris flying through the streets. Over 30 parked cars were reportedly damaged after trees came crashing down on them. Residents in affected areas woke up to scenes of chaos: crushed vehicles, blocked roads, and broken electricity poles. The concerned authorities have now stepped in to take action, deploying both men and machinery to restore the power supply and clear the wreckage.
It should be noted that the Meteorological Department had already predicted light rain and thundershowers over parts of Kashmir earlier this week. The department had also warned that certain areas might experience intense rainfall, which could trigger flash floods, landslides, and mudslides. As per the report by Greater Kashmir, some areas could face gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h.
