Stampede-Like Rush At Mumbai’s Ghatkopar Metro Station After Technical Glitch; Watch

In the latest news, Mumbai Metro faced a huge and stampede-like dangerous situation at Ghatkopar station on Monday. The rush was reportedly caused due to a delayed metro service after a technical glitch. Many commuters voiced their frustration online. Read on to know more.

Stampede-Like Rush At Mumbai Metro Station

Mumbai Metro is known for facing overcrowding quite often, but things went more out of control this time when the metro witnessed a heavy rush of commuters on Monday. As per reports, the stampede-like situation occurred at Ghatkopar station due to a train delay caused by a technical snag. According to Hindustan Times, the train was withdrawn by the authorities because it failed to reach its target speed. This led to crowd buildup and severe overcrowding on the Versova-Ghatkopar Line One.

 A video shared by @AndheriLOCA on X, along with a caption: “Crazy commuter woes thanks to 1 service withdrawn, tech issues with Mumbai Metro Line 1, Stampede-like situation in Ghatkopar Station. @Dev_Fadnavis, @CMOMaharashtra, act fast before lives are lost”, quickly went viral and drew several frustrated reactions from netizens. However, authorities have clarified that the issue has now been fixed and metro services have resumed as normal.

Netizens React With Concern And Frustration

The video on X got a lot of reactions from users. Many people expressed their frustration about the increasing stampede-like situations in the Mumbai Metro. One user commented, “The government is waiting for a disaster. Let there be a stampede & some deaths & maybe they would act. Let’s keep quiet until then & yes, pray, not to be there during a stampede.” Another said, “Sir, Nothing will happen until some accidents and lives lost.”

Some users were also worried about the safety of commuters, saying overcrowding like this can become dangerous in no time. One person on X even wrote that they don’t understand why everyone seems to be in such a hurry. Another user said that even though such situations keep happening regularly, their boss still does not allow them to work from home.

Looking at the video, the stampede-like situation does look dangerous,  all because of a small technical snag. The authorities need to take stronger action to control crowding at the stations.
