Maha Kumbh Reported A Stampede-Like Situation On Wednesday
Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Awadhesh Prasad (@Awadheshprasad_) shared visuals of the unfortunate incident.
An emergency stampede-like situation unfolded at the Sangam in a crowd of lakhs of devotees at Maha Kumbh. In the wee hours of Mauni Amavasya, the unmanageable condition was reported leading to injuring people waiting for their turn to take a holy dip. According to several reports, at least 30 women suffered injuries on Wednesday morning before the Amrit Snan ritual.
The primary reason triggering the alarming incident was a humongous crowd of pilgrims heading for the holy bath at once. Barricades were placed 1 km from the Sangam and broke due to overcrowding. Some women lost consciousness and fainted on the ground, causing stampede-like chaos and extreme panic.
The injured individuals were taken to the central hospital in the Mela venue for treatment. Some of them sustained severe injuries and they were rushed to Bailey Hospital and Swaroop Rani Medical College, according to a report by NDTV.
Several casualties were feared this morning as a massive number of devotees turned up to the holy venue for the ritual of taking a dip on Mauni Amavasya.

For years, Akharas belonging to sects Sanyasi, Bairagi, and Udaseen have been following the sacred ritual of practising the holy dip by participating in a splendid procession to the Sangam Ghat. Following the news of the stampede-like situation at Maha Kumbh, they have decided to call off Amrit Snan.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requested everyone not to believe in all rumours and stated that the condition has been taken under control.
