Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance, has inaugurated its first Asian lounge at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport or GBIA (CAN) in China. Located in Terminal 1’s international area, the exclusive facility occupies the upper level of the existing GBIA lounge and is accessible to First and Business class passengers, along with Star Alliance Gold status members travelling on alliance carriers. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this newly launched lounge.
Star Alliance Unveils Its 1st Lounge In Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China
The 750-square-metre space, accommodating up to 100 guests, operates round-the-clock to serve varying flight schedules. Its premium features include a glass façade offering tarmac views and abundant natural light, alongside well-appointed workstations and relaxation areas.
A separate 100-square-metre VIP room is available upon request for private meetings, whilst modern shower suites provide refreshment opportunities for travelling guests. The lounge celebrates its local heritage through artwork by regional artists.
They’ll also have an exclusive Tea Appreciation Corner, available during special occasions, showcasing the Pearl Delta River region’s celebrated tea culture. Culinary offerings include light refreshments and regional specialities throughout the day, complemented by a dedicated bar serving specially curated beverages.

Developed through collaboration between the GBIA and member airlines, the facility is managed by the airport’s Business Travel Service Co., Ltd. Given Guangzhou’s growing significance as a major Asian travel hub, Star Alliance has already announced plans for an additional branded lounge in the forthcoming Terminal 3.
Currently, ten Star Alliance member carriers operate from Guangzhou: Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, THAI, and Turkish Airlines.
Together, they provide 774 weekly departures, connecting to 50 destinations across ten countries, reinforcing Guangzhou’s position as a crucial international aviation hub.
