Starting At ₹600, PM Modi’s Gifts, Including Sports Gear From Paralympians & Rare Indian Art Up For Auction

In a unique tradition that has now become a highly anticipated event, the e-auction of over 600 gifts received by PM Narendra Modi kicks off today, coinciding with his birthday, September 17. The auction, which runs until October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, offers the public a chance to own one-of-a-kind mementoes, with proceeds going towards the Namami Gange Project.

PM Modi’s Gift Auction Begins Today

This year’s auction promises to be a remarkable affair, with an impressive range of souvenirs. From sports memorabilia connected to the 2024 Paralympic Games to religious artefacts, the diversity in offerings is vast, as are the prices. The base prices for these items range from ₹600 for cotton angavastras, caps, and shawls to a staggering ₹8.26 lakh for the most valuable treasures.

One of the auction’s standout features is its diverse array of traditional Indian art forms. According to India TV News, visitors can expect to see a showcase of Pichwai paintings, Khadi shawls, Silver Filigree work, and intricate pieces of Gond and Madhubani art, among others. Religious objects such as temple models and statues of Hindu deities add a spiritual touch. One of the top draws is a Ram Darbar idol priced at ₹2.76 lakh. Another highlight is a replica of the Ram Temple, valued at ₹5.50 lakh.

In addition to cultural artefacts, the auction also includes memorabilia from India’s sporting achievements, particularly from the Paralympics. A set of encased sports shoes from medalists Ajeet Singh, Simran Sharma, and Nishad Kumar, along with a signed cap from Sharad Kumar, has garnered attention with a price tag of ₹2.86 lakh. Notable items also include a badminton racket from bronze medalists Nithya Sre Sivan and Sukant Kadam, valued at ₹5.50 lakh. A discus from silver medalist Yogesh Kathuniya is also priced at ₹5.50 lakh.

Auction For A Cause

This auction marks the sixth edition of Prime Minister Modi’s gift auctions, a practice he has maintained since his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. The proceeds from the auctions serve a higher purpose, with all funds being directed towards the Namami Gange project. 

This particular auction is expected to raise significant funds, with the base value of all items combined set at approximately ₹1.5 crore. Previous auctions have already raised over ₹50 crore in total, as per the India TV News. Whether you’re an art collector, a sports enthusiast, or a cultural patron, this auction has something for everyone.

With the e-auction now live, participants from across the globe have the opportunity to place their bids and contribute to a noble cause.
