With the festive season approaching soon, the Railway Ministry has taken the decision to operate a special ticket-checking drive. Undoubtedly, the passenger footfall will skyrocket during these peak weeks. To bring the unauthorised passenger numbers under control and take necessary action, the Ministry is introducing this special drive.

Seeing the surge in people travelling without tickets, the official decision has been taken to keep a check on these kinds of travellers. The Ministry sent a letter to the General Managers on September 20. The letter highlighted instructions for the General Managers of 17 Zones ordering them to begin this special drive against passengers with no tickets. According to a report by The Financial Express, the drive will come into action on October 1 and continue till October 14.

Once again, the drive will be implemented against unauthorised travellers from October 25 to November 10. This major implementation is regarding taking appropriate steps against these commuters according to the provisions of the Railway Act of 1989.

The key reason to implement this special ticket-checking drive is to keep an eye on all ticketless passengers and take necessary action accordingly. The major issue of ticketless journeys is on an alarming rise and people with tickets often face inconvenient experiences.
