1. Dubai’s Innovative Approach: A Volleyball Court from Recycled Tyres

Dubai Municipality has initiated a groundbreaking project to construct an eco-friendly volleyball court at Al Mankhool using recycled tyres. The objective is twofold: mitigating the environmental impact of tyre waste and fostering a circular economy in the emirate. The project was announced at the sustainability conference at COP28 in Dubai. This ambitious project is slated for completion by the end of 2023.

2. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi Expands Reach with Colombo Flights

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, the capital’s pioneering low-cost carrier, has introduced a new route from Abu Dhabi to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The airline will operate three weekly flights, strengthening connectivity between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Bandaranaike International Airport. Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, emphasised the airline’s commitment to providing affordable and value-driven air travel experiences. The addition of Colombo marks Air Arabia’s 28th destination.

3. 7th Desert Theatre Festival Inaugurated In Sharjah, UAE

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi inaugurated the sixth edition of the Sharjah Desert Theatre Festival. It’s a cultural celebration organized by the Department of Culture. Running from December 8 to 12, the festival showcases theatrical performances from the UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Syria, and Mauritania. The festival’s unique setting in Al Kihaif aims to emulate a desert village, providing a distinctive backdrop for performances and promoting traditional storytelling and performance arts.

4. Gather For A Running Spree At Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

The 2023 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, scheduled for February 24, promises a star-studded lineup featuring world-class runners. The race, starting and finishing at Al Marjan Island, will
be showcasing a fresh course along Al Marjan Island. Also, it will be introducing its inaugural 10km Road Race. The event will not only showcase elite racing but also offer live entertainment and a family-friendly atmosphere.

5. Road Maintenance Alert! Partial Closure of Maliha Road in Sharjah, UAE

As of today, December 10, 2023, the Integrated Transport Centre has issued a notification regarding the closure of a roadway. The announcement conveyed through X, specifies that a segment of Zayed Al Awwal Street in Al Ain will face partial closure. This road closure is anticipated to continue until Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Motorists are strongly advised by the authorities to exercise caution while driving and adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.

6. Al Sufouh Beach, Dubai Closed Temporarily

A renowned beach in Dubai is presently experiencing a brief closure, as denoted by a notice board positioned at the entrance of Al Sufouh Beach. This drive-in beach, usually known as the ‘secret,’ ‘hidden,’ and ‘Black Palace’ beach, is famous for its captivating sunset vistas. Also, situated between the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel and the Palm Jumeirah island, this sandy stretch has temporarily restricted access.
