“Jitna Kam Khaoge Utna Lamba Jiyoge,” Rajpal Yadav On Why He Fasts Once A Week

On a very memorable Sunday Brunch episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met actor Rajpal Yadav. Bollywood’s beloved comedian cooked comforting Jeera Aloo and Puri for her. But what stood out was the candid interview, where the actor opened up about the toughest phase of his life, the ongoing court case and his family. He even spoke about his food philosophy and the importance of fasting.

Rajpal Yadav Shares Philosophy On Fasting

While meeting Kamiya Jani for a laid back pool-side lunch, actor Rajpal Yadav revealed that he would prepare a special meal for her. But it came with a catch: he wouldn’t eat. The reason? When the episode was filmed, it was a Tuesday, a day he usually fasts. To this, Kamiya asked him why he fasted on Tuesdays.

Rajpal Yadav replied that he has a habit of fasting once a week. Sometimes, he’d fast on a Monday, other times Thursday. “Saath din mein chhe din bhojan, ek din detofication ( In seven days, I eat six days, and leave one day for detoxification).” Elaborating on this food philosophy, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa star said that our intestines require very little food.

“Jitna kam food khaoge, utna lamba jiyoge aur healthy zyaada rahoge ( The less food you eat, the longer you live),” he shared. Our Editor-in-Chief recollected his previous philosophy, where he had said, “Aadha bhojan kijiye, dugna paani pijiye, tiguna shram, chauduni hassi, baras sava sau ji (Half food, double water intake, triple exercise, quadruple laughter and live 125 years).”

The Comedy Legend Cooks For Kamiya Jani

Later, the actor cooked a poolside recipe of “sasta, sundar tikau” aloo dish. As he cooked jeera aloo for Kamiya, she asked him if there was any dish that made him cheat on his food philosophy. For Kamiya, it’s pani puri, which she claims to down 40-50 in a go. Laughingly, the actor said there was no such dish that made him so “laalchi” (greedy). Later, he also made Trikoni Parathas for us.
