Surat-Jaipur IndiGo Flight bees

Recently, many flights have been facing delays due to reasons like technical snags, bird hits, and operational issues. But have you ever heard of a flight getting delayed because of bees? That’s exactly what happened on Monday when a large swarm of bees forced an IndiGo flight from Surat to Jaipur to remain grounded for nearly an hour! Read on to know more.

Bees Delay Surat-Jaipur IndiGo Flight

Passengers onboard the Jaipur-bound IndiGo flight from Surat were made to wait inside the aircraft for almost an hour after a swarm of bees surrounded the luggage door, as per a report in Hindustan Times. The flight, which was scheduled to take off at 4:20 am, was ready to depart when thousands of bees suddenly blocked the plane’s door. A user on X @sahil_meena_bsp also posted the video on their account, showing the swarm of bees.

Airport authorities rushed in and tried multiple ways to drive the bees away. Their first attempt involved using smoke, but it did not work. They then had to call the fire brigade, who sprayed water on the swarm in hopes of driving them away. But what followed was even more surprising; instead of flying away, the water attracted more bees, adding to the inconvenience.

Bees Driven Away After An Hour Of Effort

After nearly an hour of trying both smoke and water, airport officials finally managed to drive the bees away from the aircraft. As per a report in India Today, the Surat-Jaipur IndiGo flight could only take off at 5:26 am. Thankfully, no passengers or crew members were harmed during the incident.

Interestingly, a similar incident was also reported a few days back. Another IndiGo flight travelling from Mumbai to Bareilly was also delayed due to a swarm of bees. The flight was scheduled to depart at 10:40 am, but could only take off at 1 pm. Sources say that passengers spotted the beehive inside the plane only after boarding.
