Surat Stretch On Delhi-Mumbai Expressway To Open By March; Expected To Fully Operational By 2025

The Delhi-Surat segment of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway is scheduled to commence operations by March. Along with them, two other sections totaling more than 300 km are nearly complete. Over 90% of the remaining 66 km of work has been finished. Over 80% of the remaining 60 km of work has been completed. Here’s more about the status of the project, by far!

Surat Stretch On Delhi-Mumbai Expressway To Open By March

Anurag Jain, secretary of Road Transport and Highways, stated on Friday that the ministry hopes to commence the Delhi-Surat segment by March.

In 2025, he stated, the 94-kilometre stretch connecting Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai would be completed. 920 km, or roughly 67%, of the 1,386 km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has had construction completed thus far. 

The last 205 km between Lalsot and Jhalawar is nearly finished. Between Lalsot and the Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh border, there are nine packages; two of them have 100% of the construction completed, totaling 79 km. 

This segment has two crucial portions, and the last 35 kilometres have some slow going. Of the two, a 26-kilometre stretch has 75% of the work finished, and an 8-kilometre stretch has 45% of the work completed.

India’s Longest Expressway

19 packages totaling 563 kilometres have 100% of their work done along the entire length of the expressway. This includes the two sections that were already available to the public in 2023: the 247-kilometre route between Sohna and Lalsot and the 245-kilometre stretch between Jhalawar and the Madhya Pradesh-Gujarat border.

Gujarat has the largest portion of the 1,386-km Delhi-Mumbai expressway among the states, at 432 km. The 186 miles of work are finished. Rajasthan (374 km) comes next, where 350 km have been completed. 

Of the nine kilometres of the project, 3.5 kilometres are in Delhi. By the middle of 2025, the finished project should be available. When finished, it will be India’s longest expressway.
