Anushka Rathod Speaks About Surat’s Street Food
After treating us to some spicy tomato bhajiya, it was finally time for Anushka Rathod to spill what some must-try dishes are that every foodie in Surat must try. Talking about the street food of the city, she instantly remarked that no matter what is going viral in the world, the people of Surat bring it to their streets, whether it’s avocado toast, cheesecake, chocolate-dipped strawberries, or anything else that goes viral.
When it comes to people of Surat, their mindset is much broader than the conventional thinking that this is beneath them. They would come to the roads and sell whatever makes them money. So, whether you’re craving some avocado toast or waffles, when in Surat, you look for your favourite treats on the streets. It would be fair to say that Surat is rightfully the street food capital of India, rivalling all international destinations known for their street food culture.

The City’s Driving Scene
Yes, Surat is known for its delicious food, but another thing that makes it popular is the crazy driving scene. In Anushka Rathod’s words, if you can drive in Surat, you can drive anywhere in the world. One quirky thing that auto drivers here do is that they do not use the indicator before taking turns. Instead, they lift their foot up on whichever side they are going to turn. Adding to the craziness of the traffic, she also revealed that every time she has to take a turn on the road, even if it’s a one-way road, she ends up checking both sides because it’s safer that way.
