It was recently announced that Swami Smaranananda Maharaj has passed away. He was the 16th president of the Ramakrishna Mission and was also a part of Ramakrishna Math. Swami Smaranananda Maharaj Passes Away At 95
According to an article which was recently published by Asian News International or ANI, Swami Smaranananda Maharaj passed away owing to ailments due to his old age. He was a senior monk who joined the organisation in 1952.
Furthermore, on July 17, 2017, he was elected as the president of the organisation. He had a large number of devotees and followers. His passing is, no doubt, a huge loss to all of them. He was born in 1929 in the Tanjavur District of Tamil Nadu.
Swami ji lived in Chennai for a while where he finished his secondary schooling. He passed away in the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata where he had been hospitalised as well.
PM Modi Expresses His Heartfelt Condolences Over The News
The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, shared a heartfelt post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on his passing away. In the post, he mentioned that he had been close with the esteemed spiritual leader for quite some time.
He also recalled visiting him at Belur Math in 2020 and interacting with him. Furthermore, he also mentioned that he had also visited the hospital where the spiritual leader was admitted and had inquired about his health a few weeks ago.
He mentioned that Swami Smaranananda Maharaj dedicated his life to spirituality and service and had left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
