Tahira Kashyap Takes A Trip Down Memory Lane & Shares Where She Loved To Eat In College With Ayushmann Khurrana

For this lovely episode of Sunday Brunch, Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief, met with the gorgeous film director, writer and producer, Tahira Kashyap. The amazing episode involved hearty conversations, fun games, delectable Punjabi food spread, and unforgettable memories. On the topic of Tahira Kashyap and Ayushmann Khurrana’s budding romance in college, we learnt about their fave food spots in Chandigarh.

While conversing about Tahira’s college years, we touched on the sweet college romance of her and her husband, Ayushmann. They both went to the same institution, Panjab University, fell in love, got married and had two adorable kids together. It’s been more than two decades of their love and friendship!

She and her then-boyfriend, now-husband, had a couple of go-to food spots around the institution. “Without any fail, every day, we would eat two samosas at Hut No. 14 in Panjab University. There was another small canteen, which was called the Kashyap, also a regular spot for us. Then, there are Punjab Sweets out there; you get some lovely jalebi and samosa,” she declared.

The ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti’ director continued, “We are very heavy on food; it (snacks) is like twice a week in our house.” She clarified that despite being on a diet, Ayushmann indulges in food items like samosa and jabeli often. The reason behind this is his good metabolism. On the other hand, Tahira isn’t blessed with a fast metabolism but she loves to eat food. The things we do for love!

They have a gorgeous home in Andheri and we had the opportunity to relish a flavoursome Punjabi meal of kali dal, makkhan, butter chicken, raita, kofte, and the list goes on. The robust aromas of homecooked food touched our hearts and souls and we feasted our hearts out! Tahira credited her rockstar home chef for whipping up the entire meal with love and care.

We also met the chef and exchanged a few words with her. She was kind enough to share that the daily menu is set with the help of Tahira. The menu for the week is usually Rajma Chawal, Channa Chawal, Kadhi Chawal, and more. Oh, we are drolling over here!
