Goa’s first luxury hotel, impressive sea-views and unbeatable service – there’s a lot that Taj Fort Aguada, Resorts & Spa has to be proud of.
Meandering into the ramparts of the 17th century Portuguese coastal fort, Taj Fort Aguada located at the northern end of Goa has always caught my fancy. This is one of the few hotels that literally give a bird’s eye view of spectacular beaches located in North Goa. Taj Fort Aguada sits majestically over 46 acres of the Sinquerim hillside. The best part though is the history that seeps in since the gorgeous property is built on the ramparts of Fort Aguada. What Is It?

What’s In It?
Everything about Taj Fort Aguada screams luxury intermingled with a beautiful heritage vale. The property itself has 145 spacious rooms, villas and cottages. The cottages have their own themes and are hidden away on the hillside. The cottage I lived in had a beautiful Goan feel to it with blue interiors, rustic wooden furniture, peaked tile roofs and verandahs that snake around the cottage. Oh, if only I could live in that quaint little cottage forever. Not even the sultry weather of Goa could ruin the mood.
What’s New?
All of Taj Fort Aguada has recently got a facelift and it looks nothing less than a delight. From the lobby to the Portuguese style villas, they all look so new and fresh and yet have an old world charm to it. They have four categories – The Presidential Suite, villas, cottages, beach facing rooms and garden facing rooms.
I was staying at the villa which came with a private veranda and a hammock – a perfect hang out spot with your folks. Turquoise-washed walls, splendid views of the Arabian Sea, twin luxury of hillside and sea-facing residences! What more can you ask for? The villa certainly provides an ultimate luxury bath experience with a free standing tub in the middle of the bathroom. There is also a separate dining room, a living room and a spacious bedroom. The interiors leave nothing to be desired. It’s just perfect without over-doing the elements of luxury or comfort.
What’s Unique?
Taj sure knows how to create ‘experiences’. Family time was what I was craving and a tailor made family experience was what I got. From a beautiful picnic lunch set up under a sprawling tree to private dining set up next to the beach, there’s nothing more I could have asked for.
As far as facilities are concerned, I’d say the swimming pool is the clear winner. The pool overlooks the beach and you can bask in its glory as you feel the warmth of the sun caress your face.
Other than the pool, there’s also a kids activity room which kept my little one engaged for hours while I was busy with my camera. The resort also offers billiards table, squash court, salon, spa, tennis court and gym. There’s even a five-hole putting golf course and a business center.

What To Eat?
Come to Goa and not dine like the Goans? That would be a crime! The resort by itself has three restaurants and two bars. The Morisco and Il Camino serve Goan meals and Italian meals respectively. The Goan thali at Morisco is quite a crowd puller even for the non residents of the hotel. You can also just walk out of the resort and dine at a local shack if you’d prefer.
