Taj Mahal’s Main Dome Witnesses Water Leakage After Continuous Downpour; Gardens Flooded

Heavy rainfall in Agra has brought the city to a standstill. The incessant rainfall over the last few days in the city has caused waterlogging in several areas and reportedly, caused leakage in the Taj Mahal’s main dome. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Agra Circle even confirmed this leakage but maintained that there is no damage to the monument.

Incessant Rainfall Causes Leakage In Taj Mahal’s Main Dome

Over the last three days, Agra has witnessed incessant rainfall. This has caused severe waterlogging in many parts of the city and has now caused leakage in the main dome of the Taj Mahal. As per a Hindustan Times report, due to seepage, the main dome of the iconic monument is leaking.

That’s not all, a video surfacing online also shows that one of the gardens in the Taj Mahal’s premises is flooded due to the continuous heavy rainfall. In the video, you can see the submerged garden with the Taj Mahal in the background. Several other tourists visiting also saw the state of the monument and reported about it on social media.

What ASI Has To Say About This Leakage

The Archaeological Survey of India, Agra Circle confirmed the news of leakage in the Taj Mahal’s main dome. However, they have reassured the people that the rain has not caused any damage to the monument. While talking to the Hindustan Times, Rajkumar Patel, Superintendent Chief of the ASI, Agra Circle, said that the leakage in the dome was caused by seepage. He further stated that officials have verified the condition of the dome with the help of a drone camera and have found no further damage to the monument.

People of Agra have urged the authorities to ensure proper care of the iconic monument. They expressed how the Taj Mahal is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city, and lakhs of people depend on the tourism industry in the city, which in turn, depends on the monument. We hope that the authorities will ensure proper care of the iconic monument.
