Waiting for your favourite food to arrive after ordering it on an app can feel like an eternity. But what if your food was eaten by the delivery driver? That’s exactly what happened in a recent incident where a Talabat delivery boy was caught on camera eating a customer’s food. The video has gone viral, and people are understandably outraged.

Talabat Driver Spotted Eating Customer Food

The video of a delivery rider showed that he parked his bike on the side of the road. He opened his delivery carriage and took a bite out of what looked like a customer’s order. It seems that a video has been making the rounds on Twitter, gaining traction among UAE residents who have been resharing it and tagging authorities, hoping that they will do something about it. One user, in particular, with the username @BrqDubai, raised concerns about the rider’s behaviour and called on Dubai Municipality to intervene.

The authorities responded promptly, thanking the user for bringing the matter to their attention and requesting more information about the incident. According to a Talabat spokesperson, the order was actually cancelled by the customer. However, it turns out that the video was filmed in Bahrain, not Dubai. Talabat Bahrain’s Instagram account has since released a statement about the incident.

While some were left furious by this case, some actually supported the delivery guy. The video had comments supporting the behaviour of this delivery boy. Some said he must be really hungry for such an act. While others held the Twitter user responsible for affecting the driver’s employment. One Twitter user commented to have mercy on such delivery drivers as they may not get time to eat. Another comment from a User said he has logged a similar complaint many a time and has observed no changes yet.

This behaviour is unprofessional and unsanitary and could lead to customer complaints or even health issues. It’s essential to always practice proper food handling and respect the customer’s order. And hence Talabat was quick to respond to this video. Dubai municipality as well had a quick response to this video.

Talabat Bahrain has terminated the driver and legal actions have been taken against him according to their released statement on their Instagram story. What’s your take on such cases?
