If you’re active on social media, you must have seen harrowing visuals of smog in Delhi and surrounding areas. It was so dense that even the Taj Mahal was obscured by the thickness of the smog that blanketed the region. Recently, Aloke Bajpai the CEO of Ixigo, a travel booking platform, recently chided the people of Delhi for not wearing masks even when the air quality had dipped so low. A number of people agreed with the CEO’s opinions.
Ixigo CEO Aloke Bajpai Chides People For Now Wearing Masks
At 500+ AQI, my kids seemed like the only ones wearing masks to school, and a parent asks me – everything OK with your son? Well, everything is not OK with the air these kids are breathing. And then I notice 50+ elderly people in my society on their morning walk. Why is there no…

The air quality in the major cities of this country has seriously taken a hit. And nowhere is the impact evidenced more explicitly than in the national capital. Alarmingly dense smog has engulfed the entire region. This has understandably raised a lot of concerns.
Aloke Bajpai, who is the CEO of Ixigo – a popular travel booking platform, – recently took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed his incredulity at the situation. He was, first and foremost, shocked that not more people were wearing masks.
He then also expressed his surprise that there were not many public health campaigns on the matter either. He said that when he dropped his children off at school, only his kids were the ones wearing masks. He urged everyone to read more about the hazards of air pollution and wear masks more often.
This Is How Netizens Reacted To The Post By The CEO
Masks might reduce disease spread but don’t fit tightly enough to significantly block polluted air. For those who have achieved financial independence, relocating to a place with cleaner air could be first priority to put family health above familiarity or convenience.

His post incited a variety of reactions. Some agreed with him but some did not. One commenter pointed out that regular masks won’t be of much use in the kind of pollution that the city is seeing. To that, the CEO responded by saying that N99 masks should be used.
Have researched enough on this topic. N99 masks do help. Everyone can’t move. Not a real solution.
