Under 140 Characters

You don’t have to wait until Onam to feast on delicious Kerala cuisine. Tamarind Terrace in Karama is the new go-to place if you’re a fan of coastal cuisine, from Kerala’s backwaters.

What’s It?

The warm aromas of coconut oil, curries and spongy appams invite you for a traditional feast, once here. Grab a comfortable dining spot (they have outdoor seating too) and get ready for a culinary adventure you will not forget. One thing, you definitely must experience at Tamarind Terrace is their meals. Firstly, they have a separate menu over weekdays and weekends, plus they are served in a traditional banana leaf.

What We Loved

Tamarind Terrace’s meals are an elaborate affair and are available in vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We recommend you head here in tracks if you’re planning to try their seafood meal. Super filling and super yummy!

The elaborate meal is served on a banana leaf and has over 10 dishes including avial, thoran (a dry coconut -based vegetable), chammandhi, achar, ladies finger mango curry, sambhar, rasam and papad. The hero of the meal, however, is the authentic fish curry, served on a bed of steamy, hot coconut gravy, cooked in mild spices. Lastly, wash it down with their traditional tender coconut payasam.

What Else?

Tamarind Terrace is also one of the restaurants that get their appams right, so don’t miss out to try them. Order a vegetable stew or a traditional kadala curry to go with it and you definitely won’t regret. Regulars swear by their Fish Molly – shallow fried fish on a bed of thick coconut-based gravy, and prawn and crab roast.
