In an unfortunate turn of events, a major fire broke out at a private hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district on Thursday. This unfortunate accident was feared to have killed at least seven people last night. Two kids were trapped in this tragic situation and lost their lives. Primary investigations were conducted at the earliest and officials suspected a short circuit ignited the fire.

At least seven people, including a boy, were killed in a fire at a private hospital in #TamilNadu‘s #Dindigul on Thursday night.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the incident occurred at around 9 PM on Thursday. Visuals of thick blankets of black smoke surrounding the hospital and nearby are making rounds on social media platforms. It breaks our hearts to see these videos of people running around carrying injured patients and deceased victims.
More than 20 people have sustained injuries and a few of them were rescued in critical condition. They have been rushed to the Dindigul Medical College Hospital for treatment. After the fire broke out at this hospital in Dindigul, 50 ambulances and three fire engines were sent to douse the flames and rescue trapped people.
Police officials, rescue teams, and responders reached the spot at the earliest and started evacuating almost 100 people trapped there. The fire broke out at 9 PM and the concerned departments fought relentlessly for the next two hours to bring the situation under control. By 11 PM, they doused the alarming fire at this hospital.
How Did The Fire Start?
According to a report by ABP LIVE, primary investigations revealed a short circuit in the hospital’s reception area. This electrical mishap is likely to be the reason behind the horrifying accident.
A few people were found trapped in an elevator on the ground floor. Unfortunately, they could not breathe properly while being surrounded by flames and smoke and lost their lives. Based on preliminary tests and reports, suffocation was the reason behind their tragic demise. Bodies of the victims have been sent to the Dindigul Medical College Hospital to conduct postmortem.
