Thailand is ramping up efforts to boost tourism in 2025 by easing visa policies and hosting “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year,” featuring world-class events and exclusive privileges. An ambitious target of welcoming 40 million international tourists in 2025 has been set by Thailand, building on the strong recovery seen in 2024. Last year, 35.5 million arrivals were recorded, reflecting a 26% rise from 2023, as growth was spurred by eased entry rules and targeted visa policies.

Thailand has rolled out a series of initiatives to attract more Indian tourists. The country has introduced a visa-free entry policy that allows Indian tourists to stay for up to 60 days with the option to extend for another 30 days. Originally set to end in 2024, this visa-free scheme has been extended indefinitely. Additionally, in January 2025, Thailand implemented the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, streamlining the visa application process for Indian travellers who require travel permits, and making it easier for them to visit the country.
According to Hindustan Times, it is expected that tourist arrivals will jump to a record 40 million this year, along with about 200 million domestic trips, generating 2.8 trillion baht in revenue. About 12% of the country’s gross domestic product and nearly a fifth of jobs are accounted for by the sector.
Thailand, a tropical paradise in Southeast Asia, is a destination that beckons with its stunning beaches, vibrant markets, and rich cultural experiences. The country’s coastline is dotted with idyllic beaches—think crystal-clear waters of Phi Phi Islands and the serene sands of Koh Samui. But Thailand isn’t just about its beaches—its bustling markets, like the floating markets of Bangkok, showcase the country’s unique charm. In addition to natural beauty and shopping, Thailand’s ancient temples—Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Phanom Rung, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep— and delicious cuisine make it a well-rounded destination.
