Marathons are a great way to relax, especially for people who love to run. An exhilarating experience for those who love this activity, now the Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation has revealed that the first edition of the Red Sea Marathon will be taking place in 2025. Details have been revealed by the authority for this upcoming marathon next year and we are here to tell you all about it.

As revealed by the Arab News, the first-ever Red Sea marathon will be taking place in Jeddah in January of 2025. Scheduled to happen on January 18, the Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation has revealed several details for the upcoming marathon. Yes, during an announcement, it was revealed that about 10,000 locals and international runners are expected to partake in the race. This briefing was also attended by the President of SAAF, Habib bin Ali Al-Rabaan. According to the details revealed by them, it was mentioned that four categories will be available for the participants.

What About The Categories

Coming to the categories, one will be the full marathon, which will span 42.2 km and this will be for professional and amateur runners. The half marathon covering a distance of 21.1 km will be for average runners, a 10 km race will be for those who are aged 17 and above and a 4 km race will be held for beginners and children. During the same press conference, it was mentioned that the federation in partnership with the Sports Hub plans to organise this full marathon on an annual basis. With significant prizes are being allocated for the winners, it’s bound to attract people in large numbers not just from Saudi Arabia but from the international stage as well.

While it might be the first marathon of its kind in Jeddah, it certainly aims to become one of the greatest marathons on an international level. In fact, it is also expected to generate several benefits for the city while promoting its sporting resources. It’s worth mentioning that their running route will be along the beautiful Corniche, which meets the International Marathon Association standards.
