The Indian Railways has replaced the saffron dress code of the staff aboard the Ramayan Express after threats from seers of Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. The seers threatened to stop the Ramayan Express at Delhi’s Safdarjung railway if they continued with the saffron uniform. The staff of Ramayan Express will now wear shirts and trousers and traditional headgear. That said they will continue to wear saffron masks and gloves like before.
The Train Covers All Destinations Associated With Lord Ram
The Indian Railways is soon planning to launch a special tourist train which will be religious centric covering all destinations associated to Lord Ram. In order to promote religious tourism in the country, the Indian Railways has decided to launch a special tourist train which will be covering all the major destinations linked to the Ramayana. The train will be called Sri Ramayana Express The train will start from Safdarjung station of Delhi making its first stop at Ayodhya, Hanuman Garhi, Ramkot and the Kanak Bhawan Temple. Other pit stops include Nasik, Hampi, Janakpur, Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Varanasi, Prayag, Shringverpur, Chitrakoot, and Rameshwaram.

The pilgrimage train will have a seating capacity of 800 passengers and the trip will last for 16 days within India costing around ₹15,120 per person. The entire package will include all meals, accommodation with facilities in dharamshalas, transfers, sight-seeing arrangements and an IRCTC tour manager who would be travelling with the tourists.
You can also take on a Sri Lanka tour which will be charged for separately with a flight from Chennai to Colombo. At present, IRCTC offers a 5-night/6-day Sri Lanka tour package at a cost starting from ₹36,970 per person.
