Art is one of the most beautiful forms of expressing one’s emotions and thoughts. And if you also feel this way about art, then you will be pleased to know that the Islamic Arts Biennale is currently underway in Jeddah. Here’s everything you need to know about the dates and highlights of the ongoing event that’s happening till May 25.

Islamic Arts Biennale 2nd Edition Is Underway

Islamic Arts Biennale is currently underway and historic Islamic artefacts are being displayed. This is happening at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture and the second edition of the exhibition has finally returned. This year, it’s titled ‘And All That Is In Between,’ and the exhibition explores profound ways faith is experienced, expressed, and celebrated.

As revealed in a report of Arab News, there are several pieces on display which include an edict from Ottoman Sultan Mustafa III. He regined from 1754 to 1774, and it’s regarding the Prophet Muhammad’s tomb. Other artefacts on display include a tafsir manuscript, a prayer carpet fragment, a folding manuscript stand, a mosque lamp, and a large wooden minbar.

Highlights Of The Event

For those who aren’t, Ithra is known to be the global leader in Islamic arts and heritage. And so it will be featuring its pieces in the biennale’s Al-Madar section. The exhibition brings together contributions from prominent, local and international institutions. The arts and display have been carefully curated in collaboration with Heather Ecker and Marika Sardar.

Not only art displays but there is a robust programme of lectures, workshops, and live demonstrations that visitors can attend. Honouring the past and present, it continues to position Islamic craftsmanship as a living tradition. Finally, the event which is hosted by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, it provides a platform for exploring Islamic arts and traditions.
