Human history is replete with instances where art has been used as a powerful medium to explore and celebrate. Among these, the realm of erotic arts stands out as a unique genre. Erotic art has been an integral part of human culture for millennia. And now, an intimacy and relationship coaching service, The Intimacy Curator is hosting a two-day event, Erotikama in Mumbai celebrating erotic arts.
Breaking Taboos And Fostering Dialogue
Erotica, though frequently misunderstood for pornography, is a way to explore one’s self and develop a closer bond with one’s body. Erotica and Indian history and culture have always been linked.
The idea of Erotikama was inspired by the idea that disseminating consent and enhancing community development may both happen more effectively. It acts as a platform to question cultural conventions, start discussions, and establish a welcoming environment. A space where people may use art to explore their desires, pleasures, and identities. The exploration of erotic arts, such as literature, photography, and narrative, is at the centre of Erotikama.
Erotic art has the potential to be a powerful tool for empowerment. By celebrating the human body and the full range of human desires and identities, these festivals can help break down oppressive societal norms and promote body positivity and self-acceptance. They can also play a role in challenging stereotypes and prejudices related to sexuality, gender, and identity.
What Does The Event Include?
This festival is also in collaboration with the Garima Trust. It’s a programme to increase understanding of child sexual abuse and work towards its prevention.
Workshops that explore the worlds of passion and romance are available to participants. Erotikama also provides sensory-stimulating immersive experience chambers. These chambers encourage individuals to step outside their comfort zones in a safe and guided atmosphere.
Erotikama provides workshops in erotic writing, narrative, and photography for persons who have a creative streak. Participants can pick up writing erotic tales, narrating to pique the imagination or photographing sensuality.
The festival includes an exhibition of chosen erotic images that best illustrate stories and ideas about intimacy, sex, and gender identity in modern urban India. It’s a celebration of erotica’s aesthetic elements and a platform for creative expression.
Events like Erotikama challenge societal taboos, foster meaningful dialogue, and empower individuals to explore their own desires and boundaries.
