What Is It?

3 hours away from Mumbai is a place called Naneghat where there’s a mystic mountain from which flows a reverse waterfall. This gravity-defying waterfall is a stunning white cascading waterfall that falls over a ridge, allowing strong winds to go behind it and blow it upwards.

Naneghat is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra near Junnar in Pune.

What’s In It?

You can go on a trek to the Naneghat and up the mountain to witness this stunning waterfall defying gravity and making it a unique spot to visit. This phenomenon is rare and occurs only in the Monsoon season when the water current is strong.

Naneghat trek is a part of Ghatghar forest, 125 km away from Mumbai and 150 km away from Pune. The trek is a stretch of about 4 km and can be completed in a day.

Naneghat trekking point is accessible via the Kalyan – Ahmednagar Highway and also from Kalyan. You can catch a state transport bus from Kalyan bus stand to Junnar. The nearest village to the starting point of the trek is Vaishakhare.
