Bomb threats have become a usual occurrence for airports and airlines across the world. Airlines received several hundred hoaxed threats in 2024 alone. And in 2025, the severity of the situation remains the same. In an unsettling development, the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport received a bomb threat via email on Sunday and sparked immediate action from authorities.
Bomb Threat At Thiruvananthapuram Airport
On 27th April, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport received a bomb threat via email. According to the Hindustan Times reports, bomb disposal squads were immediately deployed, and comprehensive inspections are underway across all terminals.
Only a day before this threat, multiple hotels across the city received similar concerning emails, which prompted prompt police responses. Dog squads and bomb disposal teams were called in on Saturday to inspect many Thiruvananthapuram hotels, including the well-known Hilton Hotel. Even though the threat was serious, no explosives were discovered. The authorities later verified that the hotel threats were false.
The Cantonment Police Station assured the public that after an extensive investigation of these emails, no suspicious materials were found. The authorities are actively investigating the source of these emails, focusing on tracing the origins of the threats that have been sending shockwaves through the city.

Security Tightened Across City
This latest wave of bomb threats is not an isolated incident. Over recent months, similar threats have been made against high-profile locations across Kerala. In each case, police have conducted exhaustive searches, but no real danger has been uncovered, and the threats have been classified as hoaxes, Hindustan Times reported.
This unfortunate rise in bomb threats highlights a worrying trend. In the face of such alarming incidents, authorities are urging the public to remain calm while the investigations proceed. Additional security protocols have been implemented, and airport and city-wide surveillance is being increased.
The public’s vigilance and cooperation remain essential in keeping the situation under control. The rise in such threats raises questions about the motives behind these malicious pranks and the resources being diverted to manage them. Let’s hope this trend doesn’t escalate further and safety remains paramount.
Stay tuned as authorities continue to investigate the source of these unsettling threats.
