This unique museum takes you on a journey into the world of microminiature art. It is an incredible form of craftsmanship where tiny art is carved, painted, and assembled by hand on surfaces as small as the tip of a needle or the strand of a hair. It’s not just art; it’s magic.

Though it’s just a single room, the Museum of Miniatures is absolutely packed with mind-blowing exhibits. Created by legendary artists like Anatoly Koněnko from Siberia, Edward Ter Ghazarian, and Nikolai Aldunin, the museum features 29 miniature masterpieces that will leave you stunned.

A train carved onto a single human hair, A caravan of camels walking through the eye of a needle, a golden bicycle that’s just 1.2 mm long, the Eiffel Tower carved from a cherry stone and standing at just 3.2 mm, a sailing boat placed on the wing of a mosquito, and a portrait of Anton Chekhov engraved on a poppy seed are just a few things you can expect to see.

This museum in Prague also houses the most famous piece: the smallest book in the world, Chekhov’s The Chameleon, measuring 0.9 x 0.9 mm, with 30 pages and illustrations! Yes, you read that right. These artworks are so small that without the provided microscopes and magnifying lenses, you simply wouldn’t be able to see them.

It Is Filled With Things You Can’t Even See

Microminiature art is a very rare art form that requires immense focus, steady hands, and years of practice. Artists working in this field are called microminiaturists, and they often build their own tools to create these tiny wonders.

The Museum of Miniatures is located in a peaceful corner of Prague, right next to the beautiful Strahov Monastery. It’s a lovely area to explore, and the museum makes for a perfect quick stop during your day of sightseeing. While it may look like a small museum at first glance, once you start looking through the microscopes, you’ll realise there’s a whole universe hidden inside!

If you’re in Prague and want to experience something fun, fascinating, and completely unforgettable, the Museum of Miniatures is a must-see.
