This Homestay In Goa’s Anjuna Is Perfect For Creative Souls & Lovers Of The Susegad Way Of Life!

Homestay in Anjuna

Rustic charms, warm hosts and less-traveller locales – homestays offer an opportunity to travel and meet some amazing people. However, some of them do more than just that. Hidden in plain sight in an unimposing neighbourhood, Vida Goa couldn’t be a starker contrast to the vivid and dazzling spirit that North Goa is known for. This homestay in Anjuna is also a space to recharge and re-inspire artists, even maybe the one hidden inside you.

Stepping Into Vida Goa

You would think how a homestay in Anjuna does not give you distractions to hinder your creative process. So, imagine yourself sitting in a minimal retreat surrounded by nature with blissful views of bowing coconut trees – this is the first impression Vida Goa welcomes you with. Because who among us wouldn’t love to spend weeks or months away from the hustle and bustle, yet still have the access to be right in the heart of the city, where we can focus on that long-neglected manuscript or start painting again?

Started by Marcos Paulo Gomes, a native Goan, the name Vida Goa translates to a good life in Portuguese. However, I would like to add here that the space is somewhat like a ‘lab for the lifestyle of the future’ – a new iteration of the susegad life.

The first steps into the home take your eyes onto the bright Azulejo tiles, a traditional characteristic feature of old Goan homes. With a wide front porch, you can use it to laze around or enjoy evenings with friends. But for me, it was ideal to take in the breeze of swaying coconut palms while being surrounded by the white canvases and colours.

But, the real star of Vida Goa is Tinku – the friendly cat with the sweetest purrs who you will find basking in the sun or slowly curling up into a ball on your lap.

Slow Life & Style

The homestay offers multiple lodging options: you can book a single room or the entire place. With well-lit rooms and calming aesthetics, the 2-bedroom homestay channels a serene simplicity. The basic layout of the rooms is simple but the design details distinguish them from one another. The spacious rooms have an ivory-like colour scheme and classic Goan mother-of-pearl windows while the comfortable bed overlooks the swaying trees that lets you drift off to sleep, listening to the calming sounds.

Moreover, it has an eclectic mix of elements: some vintage furniture, many small and big vignettes from the owner’s travels, modern chairs sitting next to vintage tables, edgy art next to traditional handicrafts, and brass accents. Together they make the space deeply personal.
