Amidst the responsibilities, following your passion and dream is difficult, right? Interestingly, WWE legend The Great Khali went through something quite similar. On a recent episode of Tere Gully Mein, Khali gave us an insight into his life as he talked about his career, family, dreams and more. At The Great Khali Dhaba in Haryana, he shared how he entered the world of wrestling and how his family reacted to his decision. Read on to know more about it.

Khali’s Journey Into The World Of Wrestling

During the conversation, Khali shared that he initially started earning when he became a police officer.  He said, “Hum ek garib family se belong karte the, na shauk the or naa shauk pure kar sakte the.” After serving in the police for a few years, he decided to switch careers when he learnt about wrestling. When asked how his family reacted to his decision to switch careers, he replied, “Reaction toh ye tha ki bola bade mushkil se job lagi hai, job karo aap wo chutni nahi chahiye aur wrestling ke chakkar me nahi padna hai.” Back then, with his job, Khali used to earn around ₹25,000.

Khali’s family has always been scared of the violent fights that used to happen in the ring. He said, “Meri mother hai unko thoda darr toh hota hi tha ki chot na lage or dar toh sabke parivar ko hota hi hai.” His family even called him to come back and leave wrestling, but he refused to them as he wanted to make a name for himself. He said, “Apna toh profession  ye tha ki wrestling karna hai toh chodta bhi kaise.” Despite their concerns, Khali stayed true to his path and went on to become a global wrestling icon.
