So, it was no less than an honour for our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani to not only visit the talented star’s luxurious home in Mumbai but also indulge in a home-cooked Nawabi meal with him. Over Dal Ghosht and Bajra Roti, Nawazuddin Siddiqui revealed hilarious anecdotes about his middle-class habits, his complicated relationship with his late father, and even his love for me-time.

While talking to us, Nawazuddin Siddiqui revealed his preparation for Raman Raghav, where he played the titular character of a serial killer. The actor candidly spoke about going into a ‘dark place’ to get the character right. Nawazuddin stated his character had a dialogue that revolved around not feeling any pain while killing a being. Unable to believe the statement, he went into the jungle to connect with the character he needed to portray in the film.

To make himself believe in the gruesome character, he spent a lot of time in the jungle. It took him three days to get into the character’s head and disconnect himself from the name, Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Over time, he was able to believe in the character and what he is capable of under dark circumstances. For a month, the actor stayed in the zone of the character. Through this example, Nawazuddin Siddiqui explains that every person holds within themselves extreme light and darkness, good and evil. And he uses this knowledge to tap into certain sides of himself to get into the head of the characters he portrays on screen.

He Likes To Spend Time With Himself

This had Kamiya Jani questioning him if he spends a lot of time with himself for introspection. Nawazuddin answered in the affirmative. He likes his ‘khaali time” (free time) for himself. He likes to sit by himself and spend time with himself. These are ways to understand himself better, not just to prepare for a role but to connect with his soul.
