On this fun-filled episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-In-Chief Kamiya Jani had a great conversation with Sunita Ahuja and Tina Ahuja. Their bubbly personalities were a spectacle worth witnessing. Over the course of the episode, we relished delicious Punjabi food and equally delicious conversations. One of the topics we touched upon was eating habits and diet. Tina shared her experience of growing up and how the question of weight was ever-looming in her life.
Sunita Ahuja’s Opinions On Diet Are Refreshing
While narrating her experience of growing up as someone who was never skinny, Tina Ahuja talked about how she had tried all kinds of diets over the course of his life. When Sunita Ahuja was asked whether she believed in diets, her answer was a resounding no.
She said that she believes in eating heartily and doing the exercise. Sunitaji mentioned that there was no use in killing one’s desires. Instead, everyone should eat what they enjoy. She clarified that one should by no means overeat.
She then went on to talk about how she likes eating whatever her heart desires but then, is also very particular about walking every day for an hour or so. This means that she’s certainly a strong believer in exercise and eating what you want to.
Tina Talks About Her “Wake-Up Call”
Prior to this conversation, Tina Ahuja talked about what she called her “wake-up call”. She was invited to a screening of Shilpa Shetty’s movie. She went there immediately after living in London. During the event, she thought she looked great.
However, when she saw herself in other people’s Instagram stories, she said she realised how much weight she had put on. Although not obvious, the way Tina spoke about the incident raises quite a few questions about social media and the role it plays in planting insecurities and self-doubts.
Do you think fixating on someone’s weight, as Govindaji did with Tina, is an effective strategy to get them to lose weight? What do you think are the psychological impacts of growing up with such a dad? Let us know in the comments section below!
