Lin Laishram dons many hats. She is an archery champion, model and actor from Manipur. The supremely talented woman is married to actor Randeep Hooda. And there’s no better way to celebrate the couple and their achievements than with a Sunday Brunch hosted by our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani. While relishing a hearty Manipuri brunch, Lin Laishram spoke about her modelling days in New York.
Lin Laishram Only Ate Dahi During Her Modelling Days In New York
A fun game, Manipuri thali later and lots of anecdotes later, Lin Laishram threw light on her modelling days in New York. The actress revealed that her childhood was “all over the place”. She stayed in Jamshedpur, Nagaland, Mumbai and even in New York. And wherever Lin travelled to, food was something she always looked forward to. But while modelling in New York, she said, “I couldn’t eat anything. All I ate was dahi.”
We also asked Lin if she always wanted to pursue acting. With films like Mary Kom and Rangoon in her kitty, Kamiya Jani wanted to know where her passion for acting came from. Lin revealed she discovered her passion for acting during her modelling stint in New York. While living in the ‘Big Apple’, she admitted to suffering from insomnia. Lack of sleep left her disturbed and she wanted to find a solution to her problem.

Theatre & Acting Helped Her Fight Insomnia
That’s when she approached the agency that sponsored her visa. A person who worked at the agency suggested she join theatre workshops. He assured her that she would feel better. And she did! That was the start of her acting journey. Lin also spoke vociferously about the need for more representation of North Eastern talent. She sees a change in the film and entertainment industry’s culture. OTT content is looking for more actors from the North East.
