Sunday is a fun day! It is that day of the week when you ask your parents with puppy eyes to prepare your favourite dish that not only satisfies your taste buds but also your soul! For some, it is chole bhature, biryani or pancakes. We were curious to know what Gaur Gopal Das’s typical Sunday brunch at home looked like in this engaging Sunday Brunch video. Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met with the monk at Gallops Restaurant in Mumbai.

Gaur Gopal Das’s Sunday Brunch At Home

Monks follow a rigid schedule and lead a healthy lifestyle. With days starting as early as 3:30 AM followed by breakfast, morning routines, workout and worship, we wanted to concentrate on Gaur Gopal’s eating habits. He once disclosed how he would skip meals if his favourite dish wasn’t prepared and we asked him about it.

This caught our guest off-guard and he started laughing. Gaur Gopal has come a long way since then! So, Kamiya asked him about his typical Sunday brunch at home. He reminisced how the Sundays comprised of relishing simple yet delicious South Indian cuisine. He said, “95% of the time was a south Indian meal which was dosas and idlis!”

Gaur Gopal educated us about sattvic food. He said that it is sans any onion, garlic and spicy masalas. He belongs to a Marwari-Jain family and doesn’t consume onion and garlic. So shifting to sattvic meals was not much of a hassle for him.

Then, it was finally time to indulge in a healthy and sattvic Sunday brunch meal! Kamiya assured him that the meal was strictly sattvic food; however, he could consider it as a little treat from Curly Tales! The camera panned dishes like healthy kebabs, tikkas, roti, palak paneer and more. It looked lip-smacking good and they couldn’t wait anymore to dig in! Gaur relished this meal and we were delighted to see it. Have you ever tasted sattvic food?
