Over a wholesome South Indian thali at the Banana Leaf in Juhu, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani met the amazing Vishnu Manchu. The South Indian actor opened up about films, food, and much more. Son of the legendary actor Mohan Babu, Vishnu has established a name for himself with his roles in films like Denikaina Ready, Vishnu, Dynamite, Mosagallu and more. In a candid conversation, he shared what his all-time favourite dish is and what a typical Sunday brunch at his house looks like. Read on to learn all about it.

Sneak-Peak Into Sunday Brunch At Vishnu Manchu’s House

Vishnu Manchu is a complete foodie and he loves South Indian food to the core, especially dosas. While enjoying a delicious feast with Curly Tales, he passionately talked about different dosas he enjoys like neer dosa, idiyappam, appam, ghee dosa, rawa dosa and more. The actor is indeed a foodie at heart! We were amazed at how, even after being such a foodie, he maintains such fitness.

The conversation then shifted and we asked him what a Sunday brunch at the Manchu House looks like. Vishnu shared what each member of his family eats and even revealed their go-to dishes. For example, his father, Mohan Babu, enjoys meals served on a banana leaf, an ancient practice known for its health benefits. At the Manchu house, there are three dedicated chefs, each specialising in a different cuisine–Continental, Asian, and traditional Indian food.

As for his kids, they love lamb curry with sangati, a staple dish from the Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh. Vishnu Manchu shared that this is their favourite combination, and is both wholesome and flavourful. While talking about lamb curry, Vishnu Manchu’s eyes lit up as he said, “Man, it’s food, it’s my first love, and I can eat anything and everything.” He further mentioned that he can go on all day talking about his first love, food!

He Finished Off A Dynasty Of Lambs

While speaking about his diet during the shoot of his upcoming film Kannappa, Vishnu Manchu revealed that he had to bulk up for the role. He shared, “I ate a generation, or probably a clan, of chickens, and in New Zealand, I probably finished off a dynasty of lambs.” After the shoot, he had to shed the extra weight, reducing his body weight from 104 kg to 87 kg.

Vishnu Manchu also fondly spoke about the spiciness of Andhra food and mentioned how his wife’s side of the family enjoys extremely spicy meals. The actor spoke more about his love for food and you can watch the full episode on the Curly Tales’ YouTube channel.
